REUSE NEWSPAPERS

The ones who are creative, those who want to just try their hand at some craft, those who are particularly looking for paper crafts, the ones who want to make something of utility, the ones with a lot of reusable newspaper and the ones who wanna fill a room with their handicrafts- this is for you.

What this craft is going to serve you is

  • A box that can be used as a little organiser for some little stuff.
  • Something that can be used as a pretty gift box to hold jewellery or chocolates or any other such small sized gifts.
  • Just another beautiful craft made by you.

What you need to make it

  • Newspaper rolled into tubes
  • Fevicol
  • Paint (optional)
Steps to nail it

>> Start by rolling the tubes into a tight spiral, adding more tubes to the same, until you attain the size of the box you want to make. This is the base.

>> Make another spiral of the same size. Lift the spirals a bit in the middle to get a slight slant or say, a steps like structure. You can choose not to do it too. This is the lid.

>> Keep the base and the lid aside after covering it with fevicol, so that the shapes get fixed and sturdy.

>> Now take more tubes and roll them similarly into tight spirals. This time, roll it until the circle's diameter is equal to the height of the box. These will be used to make the side walls of the box. Save these shapes with fevicol coating too.
Though it is better if the height is kept at an average level. Say, I used 15 tubes for the base and the lid, then I'd use 5 for the sides.
Took me 7 such spirals to complete the side structure.

>> Paste these small circles vertically on the edges of the base.
Use enough fevicol to make it stand firm in place. Hot glue can be used too If you want to be quick but I prefer fevicol because it turns transparent on drying and the excess here and there doesn't look untidy. Plus its the second reason that these newspaper structures are sturdy enough to hold up weight.

>> Make another 2 circles, fairly small. Just 2 tubes may do. These will be the knob over the lid.
Place one,  horizontally, in the middle of the lid and the other, vertically, right over it.

>> I made 4 more circles of 1 tube each to paste underneath the base, so as the box is a little lifted up from the table it is kept on.

I cannot give you exact measures in number of tubes because the sizes may differ, of your tubes and mine, and well, of 2 different tubes of your own too.
So here you are done with the craft and it is ready to be painted as per your desire.

As always, I wait for your nailed-its!
Happy crafting <3
